When Sephorah entered the studio, I thought there was something boxer-like about her. She radiated strength and determination and her story matched this vibe.
My eyes opened wide when she told me she lost 84kg, was exercising six times a week and as off next week was going to go back to... boxing classes. Needless to say her life and the way she was treated by people before this metamorphosis, were completely different.
I was thrilled to photograph her, and also to see how she and her "sister" friend Elise interacted, supported each other and really shined in front of the camera.
Encounters like this give me unbelievable boost of energy and give additional meaning to my photography.
